Single Sitting Root Canal Treatment

What is root canal treatment?

Root canal treatment is a treatment where a procedure is done to remove the infected pulp of a tooth which is intended to result in the elimination of infection and the protection of the decontaminated tooth so that in future they does not affect from microbial infection. Root canals, and their associated pulp chamber, are the physical hollows within a tooth that are naturally inhabited by nerve tissue, blood vessels and other cellular entities. How many sittings need to cure Root Canal?

The entire root canal procedure may take place in one sitting, or at times 2 or 3 sessions depending on the condition of the tooth. Each sitting may last between 30 – 60 minutes. It is a simple procedure with relatively little or no discomfort if the Root canal is done at Reface Dental clinic.

Single sitting root canal treatment

When there is an acute infection with no pus accumulation in & around the tooth, Root canal treatment can be completed in a single sitting. The biggest diagnostic aid in this case is an X-ray. This shows presence or absence of pus accumalation in the form of a Periapical Radiolucency. In this case Single sitting root canal treatment or RCT can be done at Reface Dental Clinic.

The Procedure:-

  • First step is to open the pulp chamber to allow access to the canals.
  • Once open, with help of special instruments known as rotary files the infected nerves is removed.
  • The Canals are flushed with antiseptic solution.
  • The root canals are further cleaned & reshaped to free them of all debris with rotary instrument.
  • Once the canals are empty dry & clean, they are filled and sealed with biocompatible material
  • The cavity is then filled with temporarily filling material
  • Then replaced with a permanent filling material like composite filling.
  • A root canal treated tooth should be ideally capped after 15-20 days.
